A BIG YEAH when I saw this update :) IF you have not update your itunes/iphones, do it now!! hehehe

Mobiles!

About 12 years back, having a pager is already like a big deal in school. I had a Motorola Pager at that time. No ALPHANUMERIC! Imagine how ‘hard’ our life was, having to decode the number messages that our friends sent.

11771554 means ‘I miss you’.
17317071 means ‘I love you’.
700405 means ’School’.
3234177 means ‘Where’.
It’s pathetic, isn’t it?
I didnt mention that the total number of numbers we can send by pager is limited. so your msg had to be short and sweet!!
Our life improved when alphanumeric pager came out! It was cool and stylish!

I had a yellow one! Immediately everyone started to page alphanumerically. Why was it good? Well, we did not have to decipher all those very hard-to-decode messages from our friends, who had to find their way to those 10cent/phonecard pay-phone in order to send those very hard-to-read messages. And vice versa, as we have to find our way to a certain pay-phone in order to reply their messages.
Gone were those days, when I got my first mobile phone in University. I still remembered it was a bulky Nokia. It was awful. It was not BIG as compared to my dad 1990s’ Motorola ‘water-bottle’. Still, it was quite heavy and bulky to put in any pocket. I had to bear with it, considering the convenience it was bringing to me, after dumping the pager. (oh well, my pager is still around somewhere in the house, not really being dumped) You know what University life means to me?
FREEDOM and more FREEDOM!
So, when the Panasonic (forgot the model) silver phone came out in the States, I immediately went to get it. It looked 90% like J-phone, the one Faye Wong recommended, oh I mean ADvERTISED. I was happy with it! Well, what else did I expect? It was a pretty phone, it can send/receive messages. Has reminder, alarm, etc. Basic phone features. I had it for 3 years. It was still running good when I stopped using it. Mainly because I came back and Singapore mobile used only SIM CARD, and the phone I had only had a AT&T chip inside :-) So yup, I came back and I decided that I do not like NOKIA.

I fancied Panasonic, but it seemed like there were very limited choices. I took a liking to Sony Ericsson. From 2003 to 2008, I was a faithful fan of Sony Eric Phone. They had nice features, easy to use. Except for the fact that it is not durable? I had to change a new phone every year. Last year I decided that Sony had already ran out of designs and new features so I decided to change a brand. There were a few choices that were really popular. Hot topic. HTC Touch Diamond? Apple Iphone 2G, Samsung Omnia?

Reviews?

HTC seemed good. Diamond was cool. Looked nice. Small and Light.
Samsung seems ok too. However I never really love Samsung phone.
Iphone was a fashion icon. It was cool, though big. However feature reviews wasn’t that good. No mms, no forwarding of sms, sms cannot be deleted individually, no video capturing.

I ended up with HTC Touch Diamond.

It was the hardest phone I had ever used. It wasn’t a bad phone. But it was hard to use for a phone. I took about two weeks to become an expert in using the most normal features. There were some features that I really loved. However, its camera and video camera were really slow. (there was a joke about it at the HTC service centre. The technician said I should not move when taking video when I told her the video capturing is very very slow. So why do I take a video if I can’t move? Haha….long story :P ) The phone was not bad on a whole, just very slow. If HTC could increase the phone RAM to like 400times the speed, it could be the perfect phone for me :-) Still, I did not change my phone until recently, something happened. I went to Genting Highland with my family. My phone could not withstand the height pressure. Heehee, screen problem.

Once again, I ended up with the choice of phones, yearly affair! This time, after seriously reading reviews, I decided on iphone 3GS. I think it is a good choice. Afterall, Apple has already solved all those problems/issues that I had with iphone!!

So actually, after writing such a long entry, my main aim is to PROMOTE APPLE IPHONE 3GS!
Let me list down the goods and bads!

Thumb UP!

1. Touch Sensitivity is fantastic. I haven’t seen another touch screen that is half as good as this.
2. Thousands of applications.
3. Works like a mini PC. You don’t have to bring laptop for business trip anymore!!!
4. Have video camera finally and can upload directly to Youtube with just a touch.
5. Update blogs and Facebook easily too.
6. Sync easily with outlook contacts and calendar. (google too I heard)
7. Read messages like MSN. Can delete individually now!
8. Faster than iphone 3G by twice the speed.
9. 3MP Camera as compared to the old 2MP.
10. Close application once u exit. It is sometimes not good when u need to multitask. However it’s good in a way because it frees the ram when exitting so the phone is faster.

Thumb DOWN..

1. No flash for Camera. Avoid taking photos at dark places..haha..
2. Battery usage is fast. I have charger EVERYwHERE!!! HOME, OFFICE, CAR! :-)
3. A little slippery. Easily solved by getting a silicon cover!

And did I mention that I had also bought the JBL On-Stage Micro to act as a charger, speaker(with remote :-) ) and docking station for synchonising too?! It is fabulous!! Actually I didn’t buy it! Cammy paid for it as a birthday gift to me! HORRAY!!

It is really amazing how the tele-industry evolved right? From holding a pager to a normal phone to a mini computer. :) I wondered why I
am so serious in writing this entry. Hahaha. Actually just wanted to promote iphone la!

Go get it, people!
