Back from Batam :)
Hey!
Batam trip is not as bad as I thought it will be! It is actually quite fun and interesting to me
Hahaa
Here is my report
Just a short one!
Woke up about 6am on Saturday, feeling excited! Although it is just Batam, we were all excited about the 2D1N weekend getaway! It is the company that matters actually! We were all going with our favourite people!
William came by to pick us up at 7am and after all those hi-ha-ho, we reached Batam at about 930am(Batam Time). Looking forward to my Soto Ayam, we made Indras took us to breakfast. He brought us to this local kopitiam. Food looked good and there were many different stores. I know this is ridiculous, but..hahaha…almost all of us ordered two orders of food. We had 7 adults and 2 childs(they had their own food). We ordered 6 bowls of Soto Ayam, 2 Laksa, 1 Lontong, 1 Prata, 1 Nasi Padang, 1 prawn noodle and 3-4 cups of coffee. Like a bunch of ‘yao-gui’!! hehehe
After finishing all the food, yes..we finished everything, we proceeded to drive around the island for some sightseeing. There wasn’t much to see, but it was really really much better than what I had expected. Batam in my memory is supposed to be like a small, dusty little village with nothing. So I was surprised by the buildings and malls. It was really NOT BAD at all! ANd there were a lot of toy stores ‘lurking’ around, all over the place! Naturally, Andre and Ashley were so happy. They got themselves 2 rocker toys and 2 hammer toys and 1 ball. Actually I have no idea what the toys called, just anyhow named them!
Then , we went to the Authentic Baker’s Centre. The moment you stepped into the store, you will be memerised by the thick aroma of Kuey Lapis. We watched for a while how they baked the cake and then proceed to their little cafe to try out the cake. Man, we were really greedy! They served coffee/tea and kuey lapis there for free. Once again, we displayed our Singaporean Kiasuism and drink, hmm…let me count…12 cups of coffee/tea for us! hahaha …and two plates of kuey lapis..actually there was only one piece..hhaha..but we thick-skinned and got Indras to get us another plate! hahha…But not paiseh la, because we bought 3 big cake from them too!
After all those food, we couldn’t possibly eat lunch right? So yup, we skipped lunch and went to IndoThai for massage! We dropped off Honey and the kids at our hotel, Planet Holiday before that. The massage prices were really low as compared to Singapore! No wonder a lot of people come by for day trip frequently! All of us had full body massage for only S$20 per 90mins! That is like 30% of Singapore rate!! However the massages werent fantastic and I was aching all over at the end of the day!!! >_<
After that, we went to BCS (Batam City Square) for a tea since as skipped lunch. We stopped by Bakso, a local cafeteria for their food. It was really good food!~ We ordered 3 Bakso(Beefball + noodle soup), 1 catfish rice, 1 Nasi Goreng, 2 Mee Goreng, 1 dunno-what rice. We ordered a lot for TEABREAK right? hahaha Poor Deng didnt have any appetite so she did not order anything. However, under constant pressure and questioning from us, she decided to order a Nasi Goreng in order to shut our mouth! Things didnt turn out good for her though, because after she ordered her rice, she realised that we did have an extra rice. So that was too much food!
In the end, we tabao-ed the Nasi Goreng back to the hotel for Honey. Lazed around and played with the kids for about 1.5hr until DINNER TIME! So you see, Batam is all about FOOD and MASSAGE right?
Night time was really relaxing. We went to 933 for the seafood dinner. It wasnt fantastic but was ok. Ashley had a whole steamed crab by herself! Amazing! (It was really good) After dinner, we were too tired to go shopping so we ended the day and wen back to the hotel.
2nd Day morning was short as we need to get to the ferry terminal before 3pm. Had a long breakfast from 8am at the hotel. Planet holiday serves pretty good breakfast. Indras picked us at the lobby at 10am and we went to Nagoya Hill Mall for some last minute shopping. The mall is supposed to be the biggest mall in Batam, but it wasnt so big la! Hahaha, like what I said before, it was already good because I didnt expect to have mall like that in Batam! As we need to leave the mall by 12.15pm, we decided not to have lunch and just have some snacks at Coffee Town (Dad and Indras were chatting there while we shopped). In the end, our snacks included coffee/tea for everyone, 2 Laksa, 1 KuayTiao, 1 Nasi Padang, and 1 curry rice! That is our idea of “don’t feel like eating!”!! hahhaha ..anyway, poor deng AGAIN! Her curry rice didnt come even after all of us finished our food! In the end, we found out that the waiter missed out that order. AWW…that was not all, he went in to re-order, coming out 5 minutes later telling her that it was not available! WTH! hahaha!! So yah, we ordered a peanut butter toast to make it up.
Really Poor DENG! Yesterday she didn’t want to eat and end up with 2 plates of rice. Today she wanted to eat but not available!! hahaha
Of course our program was followed by MASSAGE! AGAIN!! YEAH!!
This time we went to SAWADIKA. Remember we were in Batam? We all didnt understand why all the massage palour we went to have Thai name..haha..anyway, this time the massages were fantastic. Initially we wanted to go for foot massages only. Cam realised in time that all the massage people were male. Not a single female. Not wanting men to touch us, hahah, we opted for body massages again. Upstairs. The place was really big and nice. Parents on the left side (just beside only actually) and the 4 of us together. This massage session was really funny. Why?? Because Ashley was in there with us. She was really funny! She was learning to sing Cantonese song and keep disturbing us. She kept massaging us together with the massage ladies. Then she even asked the massage ladies to “do the same like her”…hahaha…anyway this time, the massage was REALLY GOOD!! We felt really good and comfortable this time. Think this Sawadika is much better than IndoThai!
We had to rush to the ferry terminal after massage and it was less than 30mins to the departure of our ferry! hehehe…had great fun!!!
think this entry is not so short after all? haha
